SHOWS & COMPETITIONS

CMJ Studios holds a showcase event annually where friends and family are invited to attend. Our showcase consists of group, duet and solo performances with each of our dance class disciplines being represented. We are aware that some students may not be comfortable performing in front of an audience and therefore participation is not obligatory. Solo and duet dance performers are selected by their dance tutors, and selection is based on achievement, effort, progress and dedication. Any student who attends our private dance classes and is selected to perform solo in the showcase will have their private dance lesson plans dedicated to the development of their showcase routines. 

Here at CMJ Studios, dance competitions are there for children to gain experience in a theatre, dancing on beautiful stages with full stage make up, costume and props. We like to train our children to understand that although this is a competition and yes we all like to do well, what is important to us is how the dancer advances from each competition, encouraging progression, improvement and the art of being graceful in winning and not winning.  To participate with confidence and understanding that what one person likes will differ from competition to competition which in return shows how the professional world of dance and auditions work.

We offer all of our students the chance to get selected for our small elite competition & events dance teams.  Once we know if you are interested in participating and you understand what the commitments are we will select our dancers through an audition process.  We will only enter those students who we feel will cope with the competition scene, performing in front of an audience, rehearsals, and practising at

home. 

We understand that you may be disappointed should your child not be selected for either a showcase solo or duet, or to be part of the Elite dance teams but it may be that we feel your child is not quite ready but we love your enthusiasm for them to join in and we will of course keep them in mind. Miss Charlotte and her team have many years of experience in dance competitions and know what works and most importantly when your child is ready.

All of our ballet students are taught in conjunction with the IDTA ballet dance

syllabus by our IDTA qualified teachers. Students have the opportunity to enter for

the appropriate graded exams. The IDTA ballet exam grades currently offered are:-
